Techno Trapped?

Whoa - with all the new ways to connect with people things can get a little hairy here on the internet. I've been playing with social networking only for about 6 months now - haven't taken it too seriously though and one day about two weeks ago I went a little crazy - spent the whole day on the computer moving from one thing to the next and before I knew it my back was screaming from sitting all day, my eyes were strained and my body was completely sucked dry of any life force energy..... Between the blogging, tweeting, pulsing, posting, superwalling, friending, commenting, poking, prodding, following and being followed I was completely beaten up! And I of course did it to myself. So I've been taking a brief inventory and discovered that I now have profiles in the following social networks - Ning (3 groups), Facebook, MySpace (2 pages - one for me, one for FIREfest), Gather, Digg, Gaia, Blogger, FineArt America, Merchant Circle, Photobucket, Linked In, Plaxo Pulse and Twitter (I'm sure I've left something out of this list but this is what I've tracked at the moment). So I asked myself - Self? What ARE YOU DOING!!???? This is crazy!! When are you getting anything ACTUALLY accomplished if you are spending all your time tweeting , blogging, pulsing, following -etc.??? What is this all about?
Thank GOD I have the medicine work which keeps me grounded somewhat in the reality of living here on planet earth instead of being lost out in cyberspace forever. I unplugged for a few days to go to Omega Institute and finished my East Direction of the Healing The Light Body School. There we spent three full days - very full - working with the Death Rites. There is something incredibly sobering, incredibly beautiful and incredibly real about practicing the art of dying, helping others to do the same, and witnessing each person's "death bed" scenarios. After lots of tears, lots of energy movement and lots of healing I came back to my desk with a vastly changed perspective about what really matters. The truth? What really matters is what I make matter. So I'm out of this techno game for a while. I'll post when I feel the urge - until then I'm going to go outside, take a walk, smell the spring rain, admire the flowers, pet the dog, read to my kid, journal on paper, work with helping my clients to heal and enjoy the life that I've been gifted. It's good to be connected - but balance is the key.

Glorious Days!

Spent today enjoying life to the max! There is something so special about a glorious spring day when the sun is shining, there is a slight breeze, the temperature is the exactly perfect, there are no bugs, everything is flowering and you get to go to the park and share with a friend. I don't know what more you could ask for than that. Today I had just that sort of day - after a really intense week last week (self-imposed of course) I just needed some time to chill and who better to chill with then my buddy the Faerie of Fun! We had a delicious lunch together at the Vietnamese Noodle House on Main Street - Fresh Rolls and Stir fried Tofu on Vermicelli - YUM and then took five divination decks, two bottles of water and ourselves to the park down the street from my house for a solid hour of sharing and caring. Life is so good. There's a great gift in being self-employed - of course it's all about balance. Spending a day like today rejuvenates the soul and stimulates all kinds of neurons and creative impulses. Like my husband likes to say to me sometimes - "more kissing , less thinking". Please make sure you get a moment or two in the sun. Something about that sunshine is just so good for you! Play a little hoops while your at it - get's the oxygen flowing and the heart pumping. I especially enjoy playing with my 12 year old boy who keeps adding an inch every other weekend and is transforming into a man right before my very eyes. He's playing Horse with his step dad - who is officially at this moment a HO. Stop and smell the flowers today!

Over Wired?

When was the last time you went outdoors? Have you noticed the flowers that are in bloom? Have you felt the sun on your face? We live in a wired world however what's right outside our door may be a whole lot more nourishing then the 24/7 jumping and jiving of the internet. I'm working on balance here. Yes I know it's important to be connected, to be visible, to be putting out the message, to be available to do the work and to be in the places where a lot of people are spending their time however it's also important to maintain a strong clear connection to the Earth. Gaia is our home - she has been around a lot longer than Web 2.0 and she'll be here long after the screens and harddrives and wires are in the landfills. Let's not forget our connections with nature in our hell bent rush to stay connected 'virtually'. What's so bad about a face to face meeting anyway? I, for one, enjoy holding someone's hand, looking into their eyes, sharing the breath, breaking bread or maybe just walking along a forest path or sandy beach together. Let's be friends shall we. I'll call you on the psychic hotline and we'll land together exactly on time in exactly the right place to make the magic we were meant to make together.
